This is how my front cover and contents page looks like
I have used a medium long shot of my model as my front cover as my picture since it is very common to have a medium long shot as the front cover if it is just one cover star but if it is a group of people, eg a music group then the image is most likely to be an extreme long shot so the audience can see every person in the picture and can clearly see who they are and what they are doing. I will be adding more cover lines to my front cover as it looks too empty. The cover lines that i will be adding in my front cover will be different from my contents page to give the readers more knowledge of what my music magazine includes. My contents page is left the same as i think it looks really good and easy to read.

Double page spread; Q&A's
Today I started typing some questions and answering them myself, I will be using this in my double page spread with a picture of my chosen artist. I tried including questions that are rarely seen in interviews to make it more interesting for the readers.

Today's Work
These two images link in with the idea that I have in mind for my front cover picture. This is because the background with graffiti walls fits in with my genre that that I have chosen which is Hip-Hop/R&B. The facial expressions of the artists in these images seem to show some sort of coolness.

Anna Smith - Journalist
On the 11th of November, us media students went to the Regent Street Cinema. The cinema began life in 1848 when a new theatre was added on to the south side of what was then the Royal Polytechnic Institution. The theatre was purpose built for the ‘optical exhibitions’ for which the institution had become famous. A journalist; Anna Smith came to the Into Film Festival where she told us who she was and what she does. She is a film critic for Metro, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Time Out, Empire, ELLE, The Observer, TV Times, Sky News, BBC News, BBC 6 Music, SIGHT AND Sound, Shortlist, MSN Movies, Virgin Media Movies, Grazia, Heat and New Magazine. She spoke about what makes a good journalist and some sticky situations that she's been in. This trip helped me have some knowledge on how to ask sensible and unique questions. One thing i remember that she mentions was to always try and ask whoever you are interviewing something they have never been asked before.

My Music Magazine Ideas.
For my magazine the target audience is aimed to be teenagers to young adults, aged from 16 - 26. The genre that i have chosen is R&B/Hip-Hop. The case studies that i have been looking at are 2 magazines that fit in with the same genre as the one i would want to do. My magazine is aimed at all social classes but not upper class as the magazine is not prestigious enough for them. The colour scheme that I'll be using are; navy blue, white and burgundy and a bit of pink since my cover star is wearing pink.

Evaluation on college magazine.
Throughout the past week we have been producing a front cover and a contents page for our college magazine using PhotoShop and InDesing. I have used a picture that I took using my Iphone and i have edit it using Photoshop. I used the crop tool and cropped what I didn't want which was the official cover of the picture that were computers and chairs. The image i used for my front cover is a medium close-up, this shot type is used very frequently in magazines. I have tried to use a colour scheme of only 3 colours, these are; blue, yellow and white. This is because it fits with the colour scheme of the college's logo. I have used things such as the Instagram logo and Twitter logo, these can also be found on real magazines. I did this because i wanted it to look more convincing since it can attract a lot of teenage/young adult readers. I used a barcode as it is vital to use one in a magazine.
The things that I thought went well in my college magazine was the use of images and the font of the text as it is clear and easy to read. However, as i ran out of time to complete the contents page to make it look more professional, i didn't really have a lot of ideas as i was rushing and stressing so i just quickly designed the first thing that came to my head. Throughout the process of making my front cover and contents page, I reminded myself of the tools within PhotoShop since I already have a little knowledge on this editing software. This is very useful because it helps me get used the tools and hopefully help me get used to every tool .
For next time, when I create a contents page I will use one big image and other small images to give it more of a professional and attractive look so its less simple and more unique. I would include more contents page conventions such as; adding the number page underneath the images, highlighting one important event which may attract the audiences attention faster and helps them engage towards the article. Overall I think that my contents page looks presentable and neat which makes it easier for the readers to navigate themselves, also the context such as the writing was good and the display of the page numbers, still using the colour scheme even thought the tone of the colour blue are not the same but this is because i rushed it and didn't have enough time to find the right tone, this therefore means that i need to work on using my time wisely and organising everything in a more professional manner.
For my front cover, when creating a front cover for a magazine I would use an image where the cover star id looking directly at the audience so that you can see their facial expression, this is seen a lot in magazines. However, in my opinion i think that the colours i used for the coverless and the masthead are quite good because as I said earlier on in fits in with the colour scheme of the college's logo.

Double page spread
This double page spread featuring Nicki Minaj is mainly about her new album hence the reason why the main colour of this double page spread is pink, this implies that the colour pink relates to Nicki. The three colour scheme is baby pink, pink and black. The writing of the article is laid out to be around the image of Nicki Minaj, the image of this artist stands out because she is wearing black and white and she is looking directly at the audience. On the double page spread, Nicki Minaj's name is in capitals and it is the biggest bit of writing, this highlights straight away what the article is about.
This article has a drop cap, this indicates that the article may be formal and important.

Front cover
Front cover 2 :
The genre of this magazine is also Rap/Hip-Hop. The image used in this magazine is a medium long shot and it is an image of 'Beyonce'. Beyonce is standing against a wall and she seems to be in a bathroom, she is in front of the masthead which could suggest that she is more important than the name of the magazine. Her hair and her clothes are wet. Since her clothes are wet you can see through her clothes which implies that Beyonce wants to attract mostly male hence the reason why she is wearing shorts and she is showing her cleavage. The colour scheme of this front cover is black, red and white. There is only one additional colour that is not used a lot which is orange. The font is also the same, all in capital letters. 'Beyonce strips down for summer' stands out because it links in with the image since it is also seductive and catches the audiences attention which conviences them to buy the magazine and read about it.

Content Analysis
This contents page is from the 'Rollingstones' magazine from August 27th. The contents page only spreads over one page rather than two. The heading 'RS1242' is in the masthead, it is in capital letters which makes it is really noticeable therefore it's easier to catch the audiences attention. There is a 3 colour scheme which is black, white and red. There are 3 images, one bigger than the others which can imply that it is more important and that the audience need to read about it or that it is more spoken about which is David Gilmour's new album and his new tour. They're all a medium-close-up. The images that are shown are part of the top stories and therefore have a number on the bottom right to indicate the page number that they are shown on, this helps the reader find these stories easier and faster. The contents page has been split into 3 different sections, these sections are sub-headed as; 'Features', 'Rock & Roll' and 'Departments'. These sub-headers are there to help the readers navigate themselves within the magazine, this therefore takes them straight to what interests them.
Rollingstone cover magazine.
Front Cover Analysis 1:
The genre is Rap/Hip-Hop because the celebrity on the cover is involved in that industry. The masthead has three colours: red, black and white, it is behind the artist which could consider that the artist is more important then the actual magazines name. The artist used is 'Rihanna' as it says in the bottom right hand side, the image is a medium-close-up, her hair covers only half of her face which can consider her to look flirtatious. This might be because she wants to attract the audience hence why she also has her mouth slightly open. The two main colours in this front cover are black and white, this colours are basic and easy to combine. The font of the writing is the same but the magazine's name is in the same font as the artist name which could imply that 'Rihanna' is as important as the 'Rollingstones' magazine, most of the writing is in capitals for it to stand out and catch the audience attention. This magazine includes a barcode on the bottom, left hand side which should include the price. Where it says 'The NRA vs. America' it attracts the audience because it gives us information that we want to carry on reading about.
